Elements and Performance Criteria

  1. Gain entry to vehicle
  2. Determine job requirements

  5. Identify job requirements from specifications, job sheets or work instructions

  8. Establish nature of problem and circumstances of prior operation in accordance with SOPs, inspection/diagnostic techniques and original specifications
  9. Identify vehicle, locking system and other relevant information from appropriate sources and in accordance with organisational and customer requirements
  10. Obtain and interpret specifications for components from appropriate sources of information
  11. Select tools, equipment, materials and consumables appropriate to entry requirements and check for serviceability in accordance with manufacturers' specifications and SOPs
  12. Use selected tools to gain entry using appropriate industry practices
  13. Gain entry in accordance with applicable legislation, codes, regulations and standards
  14. Re-instate automotive locking components and system
  15. Dismantle/remove lock assemblies and components using appropriate organisational procedures, industry practices, tools and equipment
  16. Inspect sub-assemblies, test and adjust as necessary for compliance to original factory assembly and functioning
  17. Apply appropriate techniques in the preparation, assembly and adjustment of components parts using fastening equipment and methods that ensure conformance to specifications, operational performance, quality and safety of the completed assembly
  18. Select correct lubrication, packing, sealing materials and apply correctly in conformance to job specifications
  19. Inspect locking system, test and adjust as necessary for compliance to original factory assembly and functioning
  20. Finalise entry and reinstatement process
  21. Clean work area, tools and equipment and store in accordance with SOPs
  22. Clean vehicle and return to serviceable condition
  23. Advise customer of work undertaken and further recommended actions and any other relevant information
  24. Instruct customer, as necessary, in accordance with organisational procedures and manufacturer recommendations
